Depending on the characteristics of each type of date, weather conditions and sales market, different types of this product are offered to the market. Export of semi-dried dates include ripe products with a moisture content of 18 to 20%.

Palms and dates have been cultivated in Iran since ancient times and before the Achaemenid period. Chinese sources refer to Iran (in their Persian language as Bousi pronounced Persian) as the land of date palms, which is known to them as Persian jujube and millennial jujube. At the end of the ninth century AD, date palms were taken from Iran to China and cultivated there. Among European countries, Spain has a longer history of date cultivation.

Semi-dried dates:

Kabkab dates are ripe fruits of the date palm, which are large and dark agate red to blackish brown in color and have a small core.

Its high quality type is mostly used in Wazir Road farms from Saadabad section of Bushehr province and Khesht and Kenar Takhteh and Kazerun areas from Fars province and Behbahan from Khuzestan province. In terms of economic importance in Iran, it is after the Stameran, Shahani and Mazafati. It is considered as a semi-arid component.

Cultivated provinces:

In general, kebab dates are a product of Borazjan regions, Shabankareh, Saadabad, Dalaki (Dashtestan) and Ahram and Khor Moj (Dashti) and Khesht and next to Takhteh and Kazerun and Behbahan.

Mazafati dates can be considered as one of the tastiest and most pleasant types of dates in the world. In Iran, after Sayer and Shahani, it is one of the most important economic dates in the country.

This cultivar is cultivated in different parts of the country. Its main homeland in Iran is Bam Kerman. Mazafati Bam is one of the best types of dates in Iran in terms of domestic market.

Mazafati is one of the more excellent and semi-dry cultivars in dark red to black color and has very good quality.

Challenge and strategy of date export:

Dried and semi-dried cultivars are easily portable, washing, sorting, packaging and marketing.

But the semi-dried type faces many problems along the way.
Their risk of exacerbation also exists in the production cycle up to marketing.

The capacities of the regions, including the distance from the consumer markets, the transportation routes, the starting points of the exports, the population of the region and the indigenous knowledge of the region, are also important to the manager.
