Palms and dates have been cultivated in Iran since ancient times and before the Achaemenid period. Chinese sources refer to Iran (in their Persian language as Bousi pronounced Persian) as the land of date palms, which is known to them as Persian jujube and millennial jujube. At the end of the ninth century AD, date palms were taken from Iran to China and cultivated there. Among European countries, Spain has a longer history of date cultivation.

In terms of economic importance in Iran, it is after the Stameran, Shahani and Mazafati. It is considered as a semi-arid component.

Mazafati dates can be considered as one of the tastiest and most pleasant types of dates in the world. In Iran, after Sayer and Shahani, it is one of the most important economic dates in the country.

This cultivar is cultivated in different parts of the country. Its main homeland in Iran is Bam Kerman. Mazafati Bam is one of the best types of dates in Iran in terms of domestic market.

Mazafati is one of the more excellent and semi-dry cultivars in dark red to black color and has very good quality.

Challenge and strategy of date export:

Dried and semi-dried cultivars are easily portable, washing, sorting, packaging and marketing.

But the semi-dried type faces many problems along the way.
Their risk of exacerbation also exists in the production cycle up to marketing.

The capacities of the regions, including the distance from the consumer markets, the transportation routes, the starting points of the exports, the population of the region and the indigenous knowledge of the region, are also important to the manager.
